Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Will I be "cured" of my allergies?
A. In our experience approximately 85% of the patients we treat using our techniques have experienced complete relief from their allergic reactions to the items for which they have been treated. Patients can now eat or be around these substances without any adverse effects.

Q. Are the treatments permanent…will the allergy come back?
A. We have been performing allergy elimination treatments since 2000. Over the years we have treated thousands of patients in our offices. During the last several years we have invited patients back to our office at the one year anniversary (of treatment completion) for retesting. In almost 100 % of cases allergy treatments have held. Many times patients report that they feel even better than they did the previous year due to the fact that they have been treated to basic nutrients and the body has regenerated itself at a greater health potential. In some cases, several new allergies may show up, several old ones may need retreating. In rare cases, treatments have not held. This however may be due more to "toxic" lifestyles (diet, stress, aggressive drug therapy, emotional issues) than to the failure of the treatments.

Q. How long will it take before I start feeling better?
A. Although the results may vary, most patients start to feel better after the first few treatments. Many patients report increased energy, improved sleep quality and an overall sense of well being after just one or two visits.

Q. How many treatments will it take before I am "rid of my allergies"?
A. The average patient requires 12 to 15 treatments to "clear" everything on their list. Frequency and length of treatments do vary and will depend upon the number of items a person tests positive for. Of course, a better indication may be given once a person has gone through the testing phase.

Q. Do the treatments hurt?
A. Neither the testing nor the treatments involve any pain. During the testing, a slight pressure will be applied to one of your fingers in order to record your individual sensitivity to the tested items. The treatments involve acupressure at very specific points on the body. In addition, we incorporate state of the art low level light therapy (cold laser) to help balance the body's energy systems. This too is a painless procedure. Most people describe this as a very relaxing experience.

Q. Are there needles or blood tests?
A. Unlike conventional testing, our method of testing and treatment is painless. There are no needles used and the skin will not be "broken" to test for reactions.

Q. I've had conventional allergy testing done before and nothing shows up on the test results, even though I know I react badly to certain things.
A. As indicated in our web page, our understanding of an allergy is a little different than Western Medicine. Our testing methods are also different. We are basically looking for energetic imbalances created by various exposures as opposed to strictly immune system reactions (reactions to protein based items). For this reason we may detect things not found in other traditional methods of testing. For example, if the sun causes you a headache, we would consider this to be an allergy. If fatty foods trigger a gallbladder attack, that would also be considered an allergy. With our definition of an allergy then, virtually anything has the potential to cause an allergic reaction…..even vitamins and minerals!!

Q. I've had the allergy testing done and many things have shown up on the test, such as vitamins and minerals. I don't feel a reaction when I take these things.
A. To understand this we need to understand a several terms. These are 1) our definition of allergy (discussed in our web page) 2) allergic load and 3) allergic threshold. Allergic load is the total stress a person experiences when exposed to their unique profile of allergens. Allergic threshold is that level of exposure where a person will start experiencing symptoms. The "load" and "threshold" will vary from moment to moment and day to day. The body is constantly in a state of adaptation and will always strive to move towards health. For this reason a person may be able to eat a particular food one day and not the next. Many times people don't recognize that "allergies" to certain nutrients are contributing to their illness because they have not reached that "threshold" and/or they don't immediately experience symptoms following a meal. Some of the most gratifying changes in our patients occur during this stage of treatment.

Q. How long is each visit?
A. Our testing takes approximately 30-45 minutes. Each treatment takes between approximately 15-20 minutes.

Q. Is there a guarantee that this will cure me?
A. Our success rate with elimination of sensitivities/allergies is approximately 85%. Unfortunately there are no guarantees that this process will work for everyone. In some cases a person's illness or allergy like symptoms is/are not associated with an allergen. There may be deep seated emotional issues or infections at work. Recent efforts have focused on this potential and our protocol has been completely rewritten to address some of these potential issues. Rest assured, we will do everything we can to help you.

Q. What is the age range for patients (young/old)?
A. We have had patients as young as two weeks old and as old as in their nineties. Allergies can affect anyone at any age. The exciting thing is they can also be successfully treated!!

Q. What are the credentials of the practitioners?
A. Our practitioners are all medical professionals registered in various fields, such as Chiropractic, Homeopathy, Nursing and Acupuncture. They are all trained in allergy elimination techniques and have been certified by Dr. Neposlan to perform The Wellness Technique (allergy elimination included) used in our clinic. The Wellness Technique is the only technique of its kind and is registered with the Academy of Naturopaths and Naturotherapists, an association recognized by many insurance companies as meeting a level of competency and standard for health care.

Q. How often should I have treatments?
A. There is is no set formula for scheduling treatments. People visiting from out of town may receive multiple treatments in a week. Most people receive treatments weekly and this is what we would recommend. Some people will schedule their visits around their particular schedule. Obviously the more aggressive a schedule, the quicker we can move through their particular list of allergens.

Q. How soon can I get an appointment?
A. Usually you can get an appointment for testing within a week. Please call the office and speak with our receptionist for available times. You can reach us at (519)736-5353 or email at info@allergywellness.ca

Q. What is the cost of the testing and treatments, and will it be covered?
A. The cost of testing is usually $80.00 plus tax. This includes a detailed health history, a test on our computerized Biomeridian System, and a full report of your results. The allergy elimination treatments are $48.00 plus tax. Please visit our home page for special promotional offers that may be available from time to time. The testing and treatments are not covered by OHIP however some extended health care companies do cover allergy treatments. Check with your provider. Our conversations with Revenue Canada suggest that these treatments may be recognized as legitimate health expenditures on tax returns. A tax receipt is available at any point in care and at the end of treatment for this purpose.
